Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the independent operator of gauntletbrackets.com, trading as Gauntlet ("we", "us") for use of Gauntlet at https://gauntletbrackets.com, including the website, API, embeds and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, calling the API, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Gauntlet lets you create and manage tournament brackets, share public or restricted pages, embed live brackets, and drive the same functionality through a documented HTTP API. Features may change as we improve the product. We may offer free access; paid plans, if introduced, will be described separately.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep credentials (password, Discord link, API keys, entrant magic links you distribute) confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may refuse, suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for the Service or other users.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent or abusive purposes.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts, private tournaments, or our systems; probe or overload the Service beyond documented rate limits; or bypass security controls.
• Upload or publish content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have rights to share (including personal data of others without a lawful basis).
• Use the Service to send spam, malware, or to operate open redirect / phishing infrastructure.
• Misrepresent affiliation with Gauntlet, or scrape the Service in a way that harms availability (reasonable use of the public API within rate limits is fine).

You retain ownership of tournament names, descriptions, entrant lists and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, display and transmit Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service (including public listing when you set a tournament to public, embeds you enable, and API responses to callers you authorise).

You are responsible for Your Content and for obtaining any permissions needed from entrants or co-organisers. Public brackets may be indexed or linked by third parties; we do not control those parties.

API keys are secrets. Do not embed them in client-side code or public repositories. Embeds are designed to be framed on third-party sites; those sites' own policies also apply to their visitors. We may throttle, revoke keys or disable webhooks that threaten stability or security (including webhook URLs that target private networks).

Sign-in may use Discord and authentication/database hosting via Supabase. Their terms and privacy policies apply to those interactions. We are not responsible for third-party outages or policy changes outside our control.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that brackets, results or uptime will be uninterrupted or error-free. Tournament organisers remain responsible for how they run events and resolve disputes with entrants.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty pounds sterling (£50). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

You will defend and indemnify us against claims, damages and expenses arising from Your Content, your tournaments, or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion via privacy@gauntletbrackets.com. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, legal risk, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers and liability limits) survive termination.

We may modify these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by notice on the site. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere you may benefit from mandatory protections of your home country.
